I Ran Away
I ripped out my heart.
blood flowing, organ pumping, mind flying
away.
I offered it to you, dear.
Hoping
that you’d accept.
But you waved it away,
like I was a fly, buzzing around your head.
You looked at me
like I was scum.
Lower than dirt.
“Get lost,” you muttered,
as I ran away.
With my chest still open, and the blood dripping out.
My soul, it escaped,
to be with you,
as I ran away.
